Faecal occult blood test

Is this test the same as a "faecal occult blood test", because it seems to use both terms "Stool guaiac test" and "FOBT" in the article without saying that they're the same thing. the fecal occult blood article says "fecal occult blood test" without linking here, but from what i can tell, they are the same and I think they should be better linked together and an explanation given of the different names. I have only ever heard the test referred to as faecal occult blood test.--KX36 (talk) 09:38, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should this be merged into larger article on Fecal occult blood?

Have expanded article as requested. However it might be more appropriate to subsume information on Guaiac testing in the article on Fecal occult blood which provides context about the more accurate testing currently recommended (while guaiac testing is no longer recommended, because it lacks the sensitivity of more modern screening methods). As I interpret the recommendations on FOBT, low sensitivity guaiac testing is indeed disfavored. However, the guidelines seem to my reading to permit high sensitivity guaiac testing, specifically Hemoccult SENSA, and I have referenced this and edited the article accordingly.

As far as subsuming this article to Fecal occult blood, I think a case can indeed be made for doing so, but I favor not doing so as I think there is enough specific nuance that is relevant to guaiac testing alone, and which is a distraction to FOBT taken broadly, that the two articles can stand independently, just as upper and lower GI bleeding do. --FeatherPluma (talk) 16:47, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Should be folded into "Fecal occult blood" article. Guaiac is not recommended, and the whole article is a brand ad.

At a minimum, the picture showing a particular product should be taken down.

Having a separate article with the picture is advertising for an inferior class of products, and for a particular proprietary product.

Error in chemical reaction figure, molecule names

I am unable to alter the figure, but the naming of the educts in the first column is wrong. From top to bottom the molecules should be called furoguiacin, dimethylfuroguiacin, diethylfuroguiacin. Would be great if someone could correct. Thanks! 84.166.159.23 (talk) 23:43, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
