It is said that "Spondylodiscitis is the most common complication of sepsis or local infection, usually in the form of an abscess." referring to the cited article.

However, it should read that The most common cause of spondylodiscitis is sepsis or local infection, and not vice versa.


From the cited article:

"Spondylodiscitis often occurs as a complication of sepsis, urinal tract infections, respiratory system infection (especially of lungs and pulmonary aspergillosis), disease of the gastrointestinal tract and the small pelvis, even after tonsillectomy (2-7)."


It is most definitely not the most common complication of sepsis.
