Spermarche vs Semenarche

I noticed that Semenarche redirects to Spermarche. These are not necessarily exactly the same thing, as Semenarche refers to the first ejaculation whereas Spermarche refers to the production of sperm. These are related events but need not occur at exactly the same time. Is it appropriate for them to both be covered by the same article via redirect? Planned Parenthood

@SunCrow: The claim was not stated as fact, see WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV. So when a notable stakeholder asks its experts to explain something to the broad public, that counts for something. Also, the other sources are rather old and experts noted that overflood of food lowers the age of the spermarche.

Sahuc, Caroline (2006). Comprendre son enfant: 11-17 ans. Studyrama. p. 39. ISBN 978-2-84472-889-0. gives the range 10-16 for spermarche. (She teaches at Paris V University, or Paris Descartes University.)

The sources which were cited for the previous claim (ages 13-15) violated WP:MEDRS: they are WP:PRIMARY medical sources and thus cannot establish medical facts stated in the voice of Wikipedia.

So yeah, if 70% of boys reached spermarche at age 13 in 1985, Planned Parenthood cannot be far off. The WP:SECONDARY or WP:TERTIARY WP:RS WP:CITED now use 35 or 32 to 26 years old data, <insert decadence jeremiad here>. Tgeorgescu (talk) 18:16, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Planned Parenthood made the mistake to associate the start of puberty to the start of spermarche. They were assuming that at the start of puberty was the start of sperm production which is a misconception. I remember they said something on the line of “10-12 is when boys reach puberty and start sperm production”. Sperm production occurs at Tanner 3- Tanner 4 which is 2 years after the start of puberty. Plus, even recent studies have spermarche inbetween ages 13 and 14. Just like menarche, spermarche in the distant past the age of spermarche dropped significantly but remained more stable from years 1980 till present. In the 80s for example, menarche was at age 12.7 and present day it is 12.3-12.4 which is relatively stable. Plus, spermarche is achieved at either median or peak height velocity which means if 10-12 year old boys on average had spermarche and peak height velocity is 13.5-13.8 years old. 73.211.120.47 (talk) 06:20, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Age of occurrence of spermarche

Most websites normally have spermarche inbetween the ages of 13 and 14. 2600:1008:B051:DADC:9464:D442:DD29:C136 (talk) 06:23, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
