Opening comment

I suggest that the explorer is significantly better known than the actor, and so should be the primary meaning. One indication is that the explorer has 17 articles in other Wikipedias, the actor only has 5, the explorer also has the significantly longer article. The explorer's article should of course have a hatnote pointing to the actor. PatGallacher (talk) 21:37, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sebastian Cabot (explorer)Sebastian Cabot — This request was made earlier but seems to have fallen by the wayside without a decision. The explorer is significantly better known than the actor. PatGallacher (talk) 17:12, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Ameryk

His connection to "America" is discussed in his article, Richard Amerike.
I am familiar with a book in that article's bibilography, The Columbus Myth: Did Men of Bristol Reach America before Columbus? by Ian Wilson (1974).
That book does argue that America was named for Ameryk, not Amerigo Vespucci.

Birth, Nationality, and the United Kingdom

The article states that Sebastian was born in the United Kingdom, but the United Kingdom wasn't formed until centuries later. It also says that he was born in the Venetian Republic. Was he born in England or in Italy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.145.10.139 (talk) 19:56, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
