Piñera Defends Response to Chile Wildfires by Simon Romero and Pascale Bonnefoy Jan.3.2012 97.87.29.188 (talk) 00:55, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

See Torres del Paine National Park#Fires for example, per excerpt ... "The wildfires are believed to have begun in the majestic Torres del Paine National Park last Tuesday, and they broke out in other areas over the weekend." 99.181.147.68 (talk) 04:37, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wealth

The lede mentions Piñera is a billionaire. Although there is only ex-number of people in the whole world to fall into the category, does it really need such an abrupt mention in the first two lines? I think it forms part of his personal life and not something for his prime notability. The Big Hoof! (talk) 17:38, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is Piñera’s official portrait from his second term, please discuss before making such a change

Hi N Panama 84534, look, the image I put is the most appropriate for the article, the one that was there before is already used in other articles, I don't understand why you undo my edit, exactly what else is there to discuss on this matter?--Oli (talk) 01:24, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I did not understand why you changed the lead image in the first place; all you said was "added content". Also, why is the image you added more appropriate than the official portrait? You also said that other articles use the official portrait. Ok, why should it be changed? Is it a problem that other articles use it? Please make your case. Regards --N Panama 84534 (talk) 01:49, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The "Added Content" is for the image I put up, until you undid my edit. If it is a problem that other articles use the same image, because it is repetitive, if for the biography it would be more appropriate to use the image I put before, but I won't do it anymore because it is evident that you will never understand it.--Oli (talk) 06:34, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request received to merge articles: Death of Sebastián Piñera into Sebastián Piñera; dated: February 2024. Proposer's Rationale: I question why this needs to be it's own article, everything has been empty for over a day now. Unless significant expanded details come out on this in the following days I don't see why this couldn't just function as one section category and then one sub-section for his death and another for the state funeral at a later date. At least if this should be created, just not so early on. Discuss here. TheBritinator (talk) 01:57, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Eh, I'd wait for the dust to settle then evaluate. QueenofHearts 03:10, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be fair there is plenty of coverage on Piñera's death and the helicopter crash is still being investigated by the public prosecutor's office (Fiscalía). --Bedivere (talk) 03:21, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Give the other article a chance to develop (work has been taking place). List of dignitaries attending, list of dignitaries sending condolences... it's non-encyclopedic but inevitable, and it's better there than here. Moscow Mule (talk) 03:34, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Nominator is wrong in saying “everything has been empty for over a day no”. Merge proposal is started 1.5 hours after creation of the article! Much work has been done now within a few hours. Seeing the Spanish article the page has good opportunists. Besides of that there will be much more coverage on the state funeral. 64.141.44.242 (talk) 04:15, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. Article is big enough to survive on its own. Borgenland (talk) 09:53, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. His death (and upcoming funeral) seems to be fairly noteworthy and deserves its own article. KaptenPotatismos (talk) 10:25, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose – there's enough details and coverage for the helicopter crash to be in its own article. And there'll only be more over time, e.g. when the investigations happen. — AP 499D25 (talk) 10:29, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose very premature and unnecessary discussion. The article is being expanded, and is likely to be expanded as the funeral proceedings progress. And the notoriety is indisputable. _-_Alsor (talk) 11:08, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose per @AP 499D25 and @KaptenPotatismos 🔥Jalapeño🔥 Stupid stuff I did 12:39, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Very well, there is a pretty clear consensus in the notability of the topic. I will stand corrected. TheBritinator (talk) 13:49, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move:

"Following the social unrest that erupted in late 2019, Piñera's diminished capacity to govern according to the principle of presidentialism led to claims that Chile was in a state of de facto parliamentarism or should become parliamentary."

to "Second presidency (2018–2022)". He is not longer president and said commentary are about his last years in government.

Add:

After leaving office in 2022 Piñera developed amicable relations with the new president Gabriel Boric, who had previously been a harsh critic of him.[1][2] Yogurdemora (talk) 17:23, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Janitoalevic's rewriting

I have reverted Janitoalevic's recent work on the article, because although some content is correctly incorporated and is evidently encyclopedic, the user has inserted several opinions and parts are written way too positively, especially those in regards to the social unrest of 2019 and the second government of Piñera in general. As a result, I propose Janitoalevic to first propose an alternate version of the article and get to work collaboratively on it. Bedivere (talk) 05:54, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

pinging @Janitoalevic Bedivere (talk) 05:54, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bedivere Feel free to edit what may not be neutral instead of removing it, there are many references that I still need to add, most is a translation from the Spanish article. Janitoalevic (talk) 05:58, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please work on the article elsewhere. It's on the main page and adding large chunks of unreferenced content is not good. Bedivere (talk) 05:59, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bedivere All the unreferenced content is actually referenced on the Spanish Version, I just need time to translate the references as well. Most of the information is being spoken by the Chilean Media nowadays, please help with the translation. Janitoalevic (talk) 06:02, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
once again, please work on the article elsewhere (your sandbox, perhaps?). Then again, don't insert it just right away. You are "referencing" the Spanish language version, but it's you the one who is revamping the article too. So please, stop finding excuses and propose your version of the article, but don't insert it immediately, allowing for discussion, as the proposed text (as it was before I reverted you) was very biased. Bedivere (talk) 06:06, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bedivere Ok, but help me by differienciating the parts that weren't biased with the ones that are, so the less controversial ones can be implemented more quickly while the rest improved or discarded, let's discuss here about the changes and I can improve the bad parts in the Sandbox.
