Could do with radical editing

The grammar and the general quality of writing are very poor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.68.94.86 (talk) 16:18, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removing unsourced claim about salicin

I removed the unsourced claim that salicin is "considered better than aspirin as it has a higher bioavailability and it does not cause gastric bleeding". Not only is the claim worded poorly, this claim is found all over the internet similarly poorly worded. I did some quick research into the metabolism of salicin and discovered it is rapidly metabolised into salicylic acid - which does have side-effects like gastric bleeding associated with it. Also, salicin seems more directly associated with bleeding in various accounts. I believe this is sufficient to remove the claim immediately. Should you find anything that documents the opposite well, put it in - and notify me, because I want to know :) Mirithing (talk) 21:39, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Though your pharmaco-logic does not really fly (pardon the pun), it is sufficient that the claim appearing was not reliably sourced, for you to be fully justified in its removal (medical claim). Good work, cheers, and if I see any hard data on salicin, I will post here. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 05:12, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Mirithing, do you know if salicin is metabolised to salicylic acid inside gastrointestinal track? Robin De Schepper (talk) 04:02, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The logic is perfectly sound. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.68.94.86 (talk) 16:19, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
