change his current club to chelsea FC

Chelsea111 (talk) 18:21, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is consensus at WikiProject Football that a player signing is only official when the club he has signed for has confirmed it on its official website. Chelsea have not confirmed anything - his current club has said they are in talks with a number of clubs. The case of Sylvain Marveaux is reason enough why things should not be changed. He had a medical at Liverpool, and the next day he signed for Newcastle United. A player has not transferred until a fee is agreed, personal terms are agreed between the new club and the player, the player completes a medical successfully, the player signs a contract and the new club officially announces the signing. This one hasn't even got to the first stage yet. Zanoni (talk) 19:51, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. What would you specifically like to see changed? But you're right, the article is rather lacking. If you'd like to edit it yourself, you'd need to create an account and then become autoconfirmed, which takes a few days. This is because the page was semi-protected due to frequent vandalism. doomgaze (talk) 20:45, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

His statistics don't add up anymore. Pls Correct

The Total for the WBA/Everton periods are wrong. 110 matches should be 176, 53 goals should be 85, etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by Finniemc (talkcontribs) 08:27, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The total is for his Everton spell, so it is correct. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:01, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, the totals for his Everton spell are not summed correctly. For example, under Premier League while playing for Everton, the table lists seasonal goal totals of 15, 10, 18 and 25. That adds up to 68, not 53. The same is true for other columns in that row. The totals for Appearances and Goals, under the WBA/Everton period, all exclude not only the WBA season but also the first Everton season (when he was on loan to the club). What is the justification for excluding appearances/goals recorded during a loan period? After all, the Everton page for the season in question (2013/14) does count those goals as Goals For the club. All official sources count those goals as Goals For Everton. It is illogical to say "Everton's goals for 2013/14 include those scored by Lukaku while he was on loan to the club, but the goals Lukaku scored in 2013/14 don't count for Everton because he was only on loan". Or: "The goals that Lukaku scored in 2013/14, while on loan to Everton, are counted as goals scored for the club, and they are counted as goals scored by the player, but they are not counted as goals scored by the player for the club." All official sources credit Lukaku with scoring those goals for Everton. Also, note that under FIFA regulations, a loan period that lasts one entire season or more, is in fact treated as a permanent transfer. AlistairLW (talk) 20:02, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think this might be one you should take to WP:FOOTY. – PeeJay 20:07, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Squad Number

Lukaku is not going to have shirt number 10, he is going to use number 9. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.228.14 (talk) 16:49, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How do you know what squad number he's going to have? He shouldn't have anything listed until United officially release their numbers for 2017/18. – PeeJay 17:05, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For everyone claiming that Lukaku is going to use number 9, that is not official yet. He's spoken to Zlatan about succeeding him as United's number 9, but until the squad numbers for 2017/18 are released, nothing is official and nothing should be added here, not even if United's club shop accidentally leaks the info via their shirt printing service. It's not official until it's in black and white with the Premier League. – PeeJay 20:34, 10 July 2017 (UTC) Man Utd, Mourinho and Lukaku himself is saying that because he is a striker, he's going to wear shirt no 9!! Just look at Transfermarkt.com, where he's wearing #9! It's now confirmed by both Lukaku and his new club; He is wearing squad no 9! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.228.14 (talk) 10:49, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester United have not said anything about Lukaku's squad number. In fact, they've said that all numbers worn on tour are to be considered unofficial and may be altered by the time the season starts. I've heard what Lukaku said about talking to Zlatan about taking over as the club's number 9, but that's all, it's not official. As for Mourinho, you're going to have to link us to an article about that. And please don't link to Transfermarkt here, that website is not totally reliable. – PeeJay 11:46, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Until we get an article like this on ManUtd.com, all squad numbers should be ignored. – PeeJay 12:55, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Lukaku himself AND his new clubs manager says that Lukaku is wearing shirt number 9! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.228.14 (talk) 13:42, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please link to the interview where Mourinho says Lukaku will wear shirt number 9? I've seen Lukaku say he's spoken to Zlatan about taking over as number 9, but that's by no means official, especially when this article says explicitly that Lukaku's shirt number is still undecided. – PeeJay 13:51, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a link from Soccernet about Lukaku shirt #9! http://www.espnfc.com/story/3155654/romelu-lukaku-to-wear-no-9-shirt-at-united-with-zlatan-ibrahimovics-permission — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.228.14 (talk) 13:59, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't see anything from Mourinho, as you claimed earlier. Furthermore, all ESPN is doing there is reporting that Lukaku spoke to Zlatan about wearing that shirt number. It doesn't say anything about whether he actually will or not, nor will we know whether he will or not until the Manchester United squad numbers are officially announced. Until then, no one has an official number, and the only reason we persist with numbers for players who were with the club last season is because it would be pointless to remove all the numbers only to have to reinstate most of them later. – PeeJay 14:20, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Fine! Then let us wait until Man Utd confirmes what I'm telling you, that he's wearing number 9, exactly what he AND me is telling you now! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.228.14 (talk) 14:41, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
What's the problem with waiting? How can a player have a number if he hasn't been registered with one? He may say he wants number 9, Mourinho may even say he intends to give it to him, but until it's actually given, he doesn't have it. Thanks for your understanding. – PeeJay 15:23, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

When the player himself says that he already has chosen to wear shirt no 9 in his new club since that shirt is vacant and everything is all ready to edit on Wikipedia, then do it. Everyone in the press is already writing number 9 to Lukaku's profile, the shirt sale with "Lukaku" #9 is already on it's way. And you didn't wait for the club to register Cristiano Ronaldo as Real Madrid player using the squad number 9 in his first season. No you wrote Ronaldo as a Real Madrid player the same day he signed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.228.14 (talk) 16:16, 11 July 2017 (UTC) And everone else has been putting his new number 9 on other Wikipedia pages on other languages, but not you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.48.228.14 (talk) 16:21, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Look, you clearly don't understand the fact that he doesn't actually have a squad number right now. Whatever is being reported, he hasn't been registered with a number, so you shouldn't edit. Like I said, he can ask for the number all he wants, but until the paperwork is actually in, he doesn't have a number. – PeeJay 20:23, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

And now you edited so that he has got the shirt number 9. Now, was it that hard? You should have been listening to me all along, shouldn't you?

No, because it wasn't official until today. Until today, you were wrong because he didn't have a number. – PeeJay 16:26, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's hard admitting that I had right all the time, isn't it? Must be hard for you now that someone's it better than you, huh? You spoiled kid.

That's not possible. Shirt numbers aren't included in contracts except in very special circumstances. – PeeJay 16:25, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Many players have that clause in their contract: Raul Gonzales had it, Luis Ronaldo had it, Beckham had it, C. Ronaldo has it, Messi, Rooney has it +many other players. And Lukaku has that clause.

Ahead of the 2017–18 season, Lukaku asked the permission of Zlatan Ibrahimović, who left the club during the summer, if he could take over from the Swede as Manchester United's number 9. (from the Lukaku's wikipedia article on Manchester United part)

WBA's youngest Premier League goalscorer?

Is Lukaku West Bromwich Albion's youngest Premier League goalscorer? He was 19 years and 97 days old when he scored against Liverpool on 18 August 2012, slightly younger than Sam Field, who was 19 years and 204 days old when he scored in November 2017 against Newcastle. Not sure if there was anyone younger? If he is the youngest then it would be a good addition to the article, however I have yet to find a source that confirms or refutes this. --Jameboy (talk) 21:28, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Romelu Lukaku is the worst signing Man Utd has ever made due to him having the worst touch in professional football, ridiculous price tag since he shouldn´t have been bought for any more than 3.00 million euros, he is a pathetic player with no technique and extremely poor soccer iq, he simply just is not close to a Man Utd quality player just sad sad imitation of a poor mans Shefki Kuqi. Laughable player with the worst first touch of any Man Utd player ever, just very sad embarrassing player. LukakuWasteOfSpace (talk) 21:53, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

First of all I’m sorry for my unperfect english. In the “Honours section” there isn’t the FA Cup 2011-2012 that he has won with Chelsea. He played 1 match and so it’s a trophy for him. Did a bit of browsing as the edits were reverted. 3 articles: BBC, goal and eurosport. All sort of hint at the fact that although his club won, he himself turned away a medal. He seems to have been generally quite public regarding it. As a side note, can't find a photo of him with a FA Cup nor CL medal. Liamwpk (talk) 15:41, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
