Talk:Rathke's cleft cyst

I am concerned over an edit...

This edit, with the edit summary "...information is irrelevant, its a cleft cyst not a pouch cyst..." excises two sentences that explain how, in normal fetal development the Rathke's pouch develops into a lobe of the pituitary gland, but that in some individuals part of the pouch remains as a fluid filled cyst. Unfortunately, the excision of these two sentences leaves the second sentence of the article talking about a pouch that is not explained anywhere in the article.

The edit removes the statement that "In most individual with the cyst it is asymptomatic." It seems to me this is important information.

The edit adds the statement "Asymptomatic cysts are most frequently asymptomatic." Hmm? And how are often are Asymptomatic cycts symptomatic?

The edit unnecessarily duplicates the passage "Symptomatic cysts can trigger visual disturbances, pituitary dysfunction and headaches. Close to half of symptomatic individuals have a visual disturbance. Less common symptoms include diabetes insipidus, amenorrhoea, and galactorrhea."

Oh yeah, the edit completely obfuscates that this is a congenital condition. Geo Swan (talk) 21:42, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
