Merger from Src (gene)

The src (gene) page is currently a mixture of Src family, v-src, and c-src information that is confusing all three subjects. I think it would benefit by separating the relevant information to pages defining each topic: Src family kinase for family information; the src section of Rous sarcoma virus for v-src information; the C-src tyrosine kinase page for c-src information. This would mean separating the muddled info from protein tables too. If there are no objections, I will continue with this soon, or if I don't get around to it soon, please feel free to take on this task. ~ Ciar ~ (Talk) 06:46, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are many issues with this. First, Csk is not the same enzyme as c-Src. Csk is C-terminal Src kinase and c-Src is a substrate (Csk inhibits c-Src by phosphorylation of Y527). In addition, Csk is not a Src family kinase. Almost all the references and information on this Csk page refer to c-Src and not Csk. I suppose in that vain, it could be deleted. But if you merge any of this, please note that Csk is a different enzyme than c-Src. 141.211.20.91 (talk) 20:18, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your input---I have removed the merge tags and will leave the articles as they are.~ Ciar ~ (Talk) 05:00, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The title is confusing, since c-Src itself is a tyrosine kinase. I came here looking for: c-Src, a tyosine kinase. But if that is the official name of the enzyme, what can you do? maybe "C-src tyrosine kinase (CSK)". By the way, c-Src is not listed among the proteins it interacts with, which is puzzling. Is this L-S PTK a member of the Src family? Is c-Src only in chickens, and LSPTK is the human ortholog? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eaberry (talkcontribs) 17:00, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I put a warning about the confusing nomenclature and the problem ('references and information on this Csk page refer to c-Src') mentioned above by 141.211.20.91. If these inappropriate references and informations have already been removed, feel free to edit or revert my comment. Eaberry (talk) 05:33, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
