This page seems to be forgotten. A section on the experimental expression of foreign proteins in cells would be appropriate. Akita86 (talk) 21:49, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger with Gene Expression?

Should this article be deleted and merged/redirected to gene expression? Pdcook (talk) 19:35, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back again

I'm here to nitpick again about this article again. And like before this might have to do with each field's interpretation of protein expression, but the line "It consists of the stages after DNA has been translated into polypeptide chains..." might not meet everyone's definition. Can not the process of translation itself be considered a part of protein expression? If it can, then the definition above excludes it. I think we could use a more generic definition. Ideas? expression or production?

Nowadays the term protein expression seems to be widely accepted. Yet, I would like to object. In classical terms, genes are expressed and produce RNA. One step further down the central dogma, translation of the RNA sequence leads to the product proteins; in other words, protein is produced. In conclusion, genes are expressed and proteins are produced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coolrh (talkcontribs) 14:05, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agree: Genes are expressed and Protein produced.
This way, we dont ignore that this is one step further down the "central dogm" road David P Minde (talk) 14:54, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Good points. I originally moved this page from Protein expression (biotechnology) to Protein production (biotechnology), but have susequently moved it to Protein production since the "(biotechnology)" isn't currently useful. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 12:28, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
