Doric and Attic were used in addition to an unknown language? What unknown language is this and how do we know this unknown language? How widely was the unknown language spoken? For example in Delos we have Egyptian and other foreign temples. In Crete we have a known but undeciphered Eteocretan language. Do we have any information for foreign or unknown languages in Macedonia? Otherwise this statement should be removed.Skamnelis (talk) 09:25, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Article title?
I'm not sure the title of this article is well chosen. While the discussion in the context of Macedonian may give this object a certain degree of notability, I have seen no evidence yet that it tends to get a conventional proper name in the relevant literature, the way only the most notable objects typically do. The phrase "Phiale of Megara" seems to appear only on a few patriotic websites and blogs discussing it under the known national polemic perspective. And even if it were to become notable enough to be given a conventional name, would "Phiale of Megara" be a likely candidate? After all, it wasn't found in Megara – and, if it indeed is from Megara, that would negate that very claim of special historical value (associated with its alleged local Macedonian provenance) that would create its notability in the first place. The phiale was found near Kozani, is now in the Kozani museum and there are some books in the Google already calling it "Kozani Phiale" or "Phiale of Kozani" or "Phiale from Kozani". As it is still under discussion to which Megarean Athena was dedicated maybe is better to mention the area in where was found. In the lede can be mentioned also as "Phiale of Megara". --Factuarius (talk) 01:02, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
