Quotes and socks

As related to my above posts, I've made some drastic reverts of the article to an older version. Looking at the history it appears these mere made by a now-blocked user, and slipped through the cracks. Instead of using tediously excessive pull quotes to indicate a narrative, the article should summarize reliable sources. Spengler is not a reliable source for his own modern legacy, and that's really all that Wikipedia is concerned with. There may have been some positive edits lost in the revert, but it's difficult to sort out the good from the bad here, unfortunately. Grayfell (talk) 07:16, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Spengler and Mussolini

". Instead, he saw his ideal realised in Benito Mussolini, the dictator of Fascist Italy. " I don't think this is correct (it is not sourced either), he said in Decline that his ideal was 18th century enlightened absolutism but he didn't think that was workable in the present and as I recall from his later books he discussed Mussolini as something of a precursor to the future Caesarism that he was predicting but not as by any means the perfected type. About the 'Spenglercy', term coined by Sigmund Freud in a dream, the 'Decay of West', and those who present the metaphor of development of societies as ages of humans: birth, childhood, adolescence, maturity, decrepitude, the Baske anthropologist Julio Caro Baroja, in his booklet: 'The myth of national character. Countergrain meditations' pointed about this imagery that all appealing to it considered their own times as times of degradation. Don Julio Caro remarked you can't request same performance from a young than from elderly.
