I am a 78 year old male in excellent health. I have had total hip replacements in both hips and now the cup in my first (left) replacement done July 30, 1996 at Columbian Presbitarian Hospital, NYC, is worn.
MY surgeon who replaced my right hip 4 years ago will be taking care of my problem.
Although I have requested records from the hospital I am not sure they are available as the original surgeon is no longer practicing medicine.
I now question the procedure to correct the worn cup. Is this now a common procedure? Will the cup work properly with the original stem? What is the success rate of this procedure?
