the merger

yes definitely merge...this is a no brainer...notice only three articles link to Noise (industrial), indicating it is a contrived, not commonly used term. The term industrial noise is widely used and accepted in the technical world and by the public. Anlace 19:31, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Removed some information that did not directly relate to occupational noise. Also removed the Rule of 6 information because, although useful, was not supported by a citation or link to another article. Re-arranged the section order and moved health and risk information into its own section. Made a few grammatical and syntactical changes. I like that in the regulatory section you discuss the mathematical equation for determining noise level risk. going from 70 dB to 80 db is not the same as going from 80 dB to 90 dB.

In the reduction section, "...may not BE possible"

Flesh out the administrative controls section. Additional administrative controls that work in conjunction with engineering controls and PPE are: Training employees on the hazards and recognition of occupational noise Placing signage in the work area Restricting access to areas of elevated noise levels

You mentioned a few types of ear plugs, but there are some cool innovations with ear muffs that are currently on the market. While not rated as highly as plugs when it comes to NRR (Noise Reduction Rating), they can be effective. They make noise cancelling muffs, muffs with a microphone that will allow voices to be heard more easily when they are detected by the microphone, and, when used with plugs, can further add to the overall NRR of the ensemble.
