Moved content from Nurse

As mentioned on Talk:Nurse, I have begun moving country-specific information out of the Nurse article in order to begin moving it toward GA status. Accordingly this page has been created, and any interested parties are very welcome to expand on it. Should you wish to see the content in its old context, this diff may help. Dr.B.C.Roy

I thought this might be Bidhan Chandra Roy but the date (1897) looks to early. Biscuittin (talk) 21:18, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Malayali Nurses

Someone who knows about the history of nursing in India should write about the high proportion of trained nurses who came formerly from the kingdoms of Travancore and Cochin, and nowadays hail from the state of Kerala. Many but not all of these women and girls were Christians. Indian-trained nurses are also numerous abroad, including in the Persian Gulf and United Kingdom, and a high proportion of them are Malayalis: unlike the doctors, who come from all over India.
