Organisation of article

I think the organisation of this article needs looking at. It discusses arachnids, then vertebrates and then invertebrates. Of course arachnids are invertebrates so should probably be discussed in this section. __DrChrissy (talk) 19:42, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Moving of page

This page has recently been moved from Nuptial gift (in animals). I disagree with this move - although not strongly enough to revert the edit. I edit mostly animal behaviour articles and I find it frustrating having to wade through articles that include behavioural information on both humans and non-human animals because these become extremely large and sometimes overly complex. In my experience of Wikipedia, I have seen many pages split or moved to form an "(in animals)" type page, but I have not seen the reverse, as has occurred here. Although there is not much information on humans on this page yet, it will take only one committed editor to perhaps swamp the page meaning that the information on non-human animals needs to moved again. So, I propose that the article be moved back to Nuptial gift (in animals). The section on humans could perhaps remain for the moment, but would perhaps best form a stub for a seperate article, Nuptial gift.__DrChrissy (talk) 16:59, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Additional references to research

1. Stålhandske's research suggests female spiders receiving gifts don't receive an increase in fitness due to the gifts, unlike other research. This should be mentioned as it's worth outlining all of the current research. 2. Discuss research which shows female mate choice is dependent on nuptial gifts independent of female reproductive status (virgin vs mated). This reflects the importance of the gift while noting other factors may not be as important. 3. Discuss the additional benefit of protection from cannibalizing females in species such as the bell cricket. Johnson.6455 (talk) 15:19, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

More Logical Restructuring

This article seems somewhat disjointed. In the beginning summary, the final sentence about how nuptial gifts can also indicate male fitness seems out of place. It come after the discussion of food gifts and before the discussion of token like gifts, considering it serves almost as a topic sentence. The second to last sentence about the 2 different classifications should also be moved to a similar location as well, since it serves as a linking sentence. I am moving these sentences as a suggested edit.

The section about occurrence seems unnecessary. It delves into talking about arachnids which should be discussed under the invertebrates section. The occurrences in vertebrates and invertebrates should be discussed in their respected sections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rebeccablair615 (talkcontribs) 03:42, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OK but before the next line, give a link to the page with the female to male gift transfer. Or mention if there is no such thing. Jidanni (talk) 15:49, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
