(A colleague's attempt to clarify sigificance of base-pair sequences)

Typically the sequences are printed abutting one another without gaps, as in the sequence AAAGTCTGAC, going from 5' to 3' from left to right. What is meant with 5' and 3' here? --Abdull 19:45, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the image "part of a DNA sequence" is somewhat misleading. Depicted is the determination of the sequence during base calling. IMO, an image "part of a DNA sequence" should only show the sequence itself. Maybe this image should be replaced/deleted and used in a part of the article [DNA_sequencing] explaining base-calling. 138.246.7.121 Thu Sep 7 18:32:56 UTC 2006

This colleague's attempt ask a question to which a direct question is worthy of preservation, but too confused to be left merely unanswered. Read it if you care to; i don't rule out my making clarifying response to it, but the answer to that depends on discussion in the succeeding sections, and especially on what response has been made to questions and proposals below on this talk page, and likely on what has since been done, in the article to respond to the issues this relatively primordial confusion illuminates.<br--JerzyA (talk) 01:50, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What about RNA sequence: uridine; nucleotide sequences in general?

There are also nucleotide modifications (especially methylation, but also phosphorylation, acetylation, some others) which are playing important role in genetic control, inheritance and evolution. Kazkaskazkasako (talk) 13:53, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hopefully these aspects have been addequately addressed by now; Stay tuned.
