Spores?

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure there's an error/inconsistency between the paragraph on the "sporic life cycle" and the accompanying figure. At the very least, the description of a "spore" is missing. It seems to me that the last word in the sentence "The diploid organism's germ-line cells undergo meiosis to produce gametes" should instead be "spores". If not, then either the figure is wrong, or gamete = spore, which should be explained. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ProfessorJohnFrink (talkcontribs) 22:48, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anaphase 1 and random variation

I am not an expert but I believe that Anaphase 1 has an influence on independent assortment of chromosomes and hence variation. Its not mentioned here , even though it is perhqps the second most important source after crossover. I think this article needs to mention all sources of variation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.5.96.151 (talk) 20:27, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A video of meiosis I in a crane fly spermatocyte, played back at 120× the recorded speed = Bad Video

This video is choppy and slow and doesn't feel very nice to watch. Let's keep it for now, but if we find a replacement that's better, than I vote we switch it for a better video that has higher FPS. and perhaps more detail too. 2601:18D:4800:2370:C9FC:F9A9:1DF9:39C4 (talk) 18:06, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
