Catholic?
Does anyone know if he converted to Catholicism at some point, and thus became excluded from succession to the British throne? john k (talk) 01:36, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- The ODNB article on Ernest Augustus, Duke of York and Albany (here if you've got a subscription) describes its subject as the "remaining protestant brother" of George I in 1715. I dropped German after one year at school, but I think the German wikipedia article on Maximilian says he converted in 1692 (though providing no source), while the ADB article on his mother says he fell firstly into debt and then into the arms of the Jesuits, without giving a date.
