  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I think you need stronger sourcing to verify that she "refuses to speak English in Parliament". Right now you only have a headline in a news24 article, with nothing to back it up in the article. Yoninah (talk) 20:46, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Yoninah: Hi, there. There are two sources (actually three) in the article that verify that she refuses to speak English in Parliament. The one from News24 that was the initial source for the hook, the second source from News24 that I added a few moments ago, and then one from The Citizen which contains an excerpt.   • @Lefcentreright: I'm sorry I'm not making myself clear. The only place it says she refuses to speak English is in the headline of one news24 page. The body of the article on that page doesn't say any more about "refusing", just that she insists on speaking Zulu. The second news24 article only speaks about her insistence on speaking Zulu, saying she doesn't feel comfortable in English. The Citizen source, ditto. I am concerned about OR here. If your hook would say that she insists on speaking Zulu in the Parliament, that would be accurate and verified. Yoninah (talk) 23:14, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • By the way, I did a Google search and I see that because you wrote in the article "she refuses to speak English in Parliament", the Google search engine says she is "known for refusing to speak English in Parliament". If you cannot find other sources that say this, other than an attention-grabbing headline, please excise it from your article. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 23:18, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Lefcentreright:Well, I suggest you write the article based on the sources. All of them say she insists on speaking Zulu in the Parliament, so rewrite the lead and body of the article to reflect that. Don't assign her any motivations beyond those you see in the sources. You could also add that she feels uncomfortable in English, per the second news24 source. Then we can go with your second hook but shorten it to:
  • ALT1a: ... that South African Member of Parliament Makoti Khawula insists on speaking and being addressed in isiZulu while in the Parliament?
  • Alternately, you could change the second mention of "Parliament" to "the legislature" or "the assembly" or whatever it is. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 23:55, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
