WORKPLAN:
At first glance, this article covers a wide range of procedures which is great. However, there are a few limb-sparing techniques that have yet to be covered in the article. Specifically, I noticed that the article does not cover an important life- and limb-saving procedure: fasciotomy. In addition, there are many reconstructive procedures available for various oncological diseases, as well as calcanectomies used in the limb-sparing treatment for diabetic foot ulcers. These topics are either not mentioned or are only superficially mentioned as the article stands now.
To address these topics, I searched PubMed for systematic review articles published within the last 5 years using the term "limb sparing". There were 4 articles that fit those criteria. Using these articles, I will cover surgical outcomes following limb-sparing resection for oncologic treatment. There are also numerous "fasciotomy" related articles that I will draw upon to improve the completeness of the article regarding this subject.
This is a relatively short article that is in its very early stages, so I feel that I will not need to prioritize any particular section. I think doing some work on each section is quite doable within our allotted time frame. Other than content, a few suggestions for improvement regarding how to make the article more consistent with Wikipedia standards are:
- The lead paragraph needs a citation, particularly for the first sentence.
- The "Arthrodesis" section is missing acceptable citations for each sentence. A diagram could also be inserted here to more clearly communicate what an arthrodesis is. Alternatively, I could embed a link to the Wikipedia page that solely covers arthrodesis.
- The "Arthroplasty" section is missing acceptable citations for most of the sentences. There are unsubstantiated claims made. There could also be more detail regarding the types of arthroplasty organized by subsections: shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle, for example. A few pictures of different arthroplasty implants could also be included with a brief description for each. Alternatively, I could embed a link to the Wikipedia page that solely covers arthroplasty.
- The "Alloprosthetic composite" section could be expanded a bit more to make the article more balanced. It also needs more citations, and I am concerned that the one citation that is currently in there is a primary source, rather than a preferred secondary source.
- For the "Prosthetic implants" section, I think it would be remiss if the topic of 3-dimensional printing of prosthetic implants were not discussed. I could also embed a Wikipedia article on this subject within this section. I will plan to add additional citations to this article as well.
- The "Rotationplasty" section is missing citations for most sentences. I also am concerned that the [6] and [10] citations are not acceptable secondary sources. There are also quite a few unsubstantiated claims, such as the sentence "Since then, many surgeons have performed modified versions of rotationplasty and have had great success." However, there was no corresponding citation.

Due to time constraints, I will not add "Fasciotomy" and "Revascularization" sections to this article. However, I would love to see a future student do so later. These are important limb-sparing techniques that I think would add great value and depth to this article. Thanks!

I tried to find credible citations to add to the "Prosthetic implants" section, but I could not find any. I'm hoping someone else will have better luck than me. Also would love to see someone add an "Osseointegration limb replacement" section to this article in the future since that is an exciting relatively new limb-sparing technique that should be covered in this article. Thanks!
