Copper or iron?
Though a product of errant copper metabolism, I recall reading somewhere that the pigment itself is mainly iron, not copper? I changed the article, but upon further inspection could find no evidence to support this, other than the obvious fact that oxidised copper is green, not orange-brown. Anybody got any information?

I do know that one symptom of Wilson's disease is a reduction in blood concentrations of ceruloplasmin, which is an enzyme that is primarily used for freeing stored iron. So that would be my hypothesis, but this wouldn't account for the appearance of K-F rings in copper poisonings.D-rew 08:12, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Copper is the deposit. In the similarly named Fleischer ring, iron deposits form. Fleischer rings are typically associated with Keratoconus. 74.138.64.146 01:24, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
