I just got gagged by what i think was this program when i was vacationing in Montreal about a week ago. Unless there's some other Canadian prank show that tapes in Montreal, it must be making a comeback (a lot of the gags listed here sound very similar to how I was pranked). And no, the people are not in on the gags. I thought it was real, and then after a while when something started to seem fishy, I thought it was an elaborate pickpocket scam (it was my first day in Montreal, what did I know?). When did this show start?

I am pretty sure that this program started as an off-shoot from the Just for Laughs Comedy festival, held in Montreal Canada every year, and I am pretty sure I have seen it here on Canadian tv since 1998. Could someone please add this info to the article, how the show came about and when? Canadian show

Please keep in mind that this article is for the Canadian version of the show, not the UK one. I have updated most of the links to point to the Canadian websites. Just for Laughs Gags has basically exploded on the internet in the last year (over 6 million views on the official YouTube channel) and it would be nice if the article could get a nice cleanup/update. --156.34.192.196 (talk) 04:03, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hot girl gives phone number prank, she uses 555 number. And no one notices a 555 # is fake? The truck holding the latter one... one of the guys attempts to keep the latter up and is struggling even when the actor steps off. The 'assist me carrying this box' one... the box is weightless first off so there's a giveaway for the 'victim' and one Guy saw the feet giving it away but continued acting. The swinging monkey grabbing bananas looks so set up. Who buys bananas behind a building like that? With cables and lifts at each side its pretty obvious.

In any skit if the joke is up they still act surprised when they see the cameras. And in one a chick looks directly at the camera mistakenly because she immediately turns away and persists to pretend."

Just for Laughs (U.S. TV series) → Just for Laughs: Gags

Neither the sourcing nor the substance in Just for Laughs (U.S. TV series) is demonstrating a reason why that series would need a separate article from this one — all that version of the show ever really entailed is segments taken from this version, with the minimal change that they were interstitially introduced by a (still Canadian) host instead of just seguing directly from one prank to another as the Canadian version does. That's not a compelling reason why we would require two separate articles; given how minor the differences are and how minimal the sourcing for the "U.S." version is, a couple of lines about it in this article is all it needs. Cleaned up some major structural issues. Article needs more work.

I observed some major structural issues with this article and couldn't help but clean things up a bit, all of which are listed and justified accordingly:

I removed the "Start of the show" section altogether, and transferred it's single paragraph into "Production". "Start of the show" is a clunky, and ultimately redundant section for the single paragraph it contained. It's not even very descriptive of it's original contents, as half of the included paragraph was an overview of its later international syndication, not it's inception.

I moved the first paragraph previously under "Production" to act as the article's introductory paragraph. It's a basic description of the show's premise, and conveys very little if any information about how the show is actually produced.

I deleted the "Expansion" section entirely. It originally contained a short sentence or two about the existence of a self-titled channel on the short-lived video sharing website "videobash.com". It described this channel as a "partnership" without any citation aside from the channel page itself, which never contained a single video during the platform's entire existence. - The show had an official YouTube channel at this time as well, which actually contained segments from the show. This channel exists today and has 10+ million subscribers, but likewise, this would be difficult to call an "expansion" or even a "partnership" for that matter.

Finally, I removed a "List of pranks" subsection under "Pranks" which simply contained an invalid link to a nonexistent Wikipedia article. With 3000+ episodes, i'm going to assume that such a list isn't going to exist anytime soon. Feel free to create one if you disagree, however.

This article needs a lot more work, and more recent/relevant information and citations to keep it up to date, but I don't have the energy to contribute much more than this at the moment.

Feel free to advise if you disagree with any of these changes and edit accordingly.
