The text says: "As an adult, he was also a member of the NSDAP." He was born in March 1927, so at the end of the war he had just turned 18. Did this make him an adult under German law at that time? At what age could people join the NSDAP? I would like to see a source for the statement that he was an NSDAP member. Adam 01:13, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You became an adult at 21 years of age, which was shifted to 18 in the 1950s for the GDR (with effect, according to Western German lawyers, also for people resettling from the East into West Germany) and in the 1970s in West Germany. However, the NSDAP did seem to have accepted 18-year-old members, as that was the age-limit of the Hitler-Youth. --2001:A61:20D5:F801:1D80:98EC:E745:680A (talk) 12:55, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Missing important facts

Where is his nickname "Genschman"? Where is his famous yellow pullover (or "Pullunder" in German)? Where is the order "Wider den tierischen Ernst"? Where is the expression "Genscherism"?

Yes, this article is missing some information. You can find sources and add the information. As for the ITN nomination, I do not consider the more or less trivial pieces of information you mention as vital for putting it on the Main Page. Zwerg Nase (talk) 20:02, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The lead paragraph doesn't make sense

I don't understand the lead, particularly the statement about non-consecutive terms, followed by a statement about being interior minister. It would be clearer if the statement about non-consecutive terms was followed by details of the dates of those terms. MurielMary (talk) 07:28, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@MurielMary: I took the sentence out. That couple of days during Schmidt's interregnum are not really relevant anyway... It would be if there had actually been another coalition with a different vice chancellor in between, but there was not. Zwerg Nase (talk) 09:13, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism in this article

I noticed that a number of sentences in this article are taken verbatim from their source articles--three in a row in the section I was looking at. The whole article could use some looking-over. Valkotukka (talk) 15:25, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
