Author unfamiliar with catagorization and requests help. Thanx.

The article is well categorized now, so tag is not needed on article, and doesn't belong on talk page. WVhybrid 06:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could this page be translated into regular english? The point of an encyclopedia is to provide knowledge to the massses, while this article divulges an abundant amount of information, at least a summary of what it is in layman's terms should precede the in depth scientific explaination.

dubious

A worrying amount of this article is sourced to Antonio Arnaiz-Villena. Besides legal issues and claims of "conspiracies" against him, this guy has proposed all sorts of crackpot ideas based on HLA-DQ8. Any reasonable claims should be supportable with more reliable sources. kwami (talk) 12:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

lol, not to mention the paper that was retracted in human immunology for being overtly political and religious. None the less the paper on the Palestinian still provides missing data, I don't much read the conclusions of these papers, simply transfer the haplotype frequencies.PB666 yap 20:02, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To answer the critique, only gene frequencies from AAVs papers have been used, I have read many of his papers and I completely discount many of his conclusions. Data however is data. The reference in the tables refer specifically to haplotype or allele frequencies presented in the tables.PB666 yap 20:19, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

no data provided for US

Although the majority of people reading this article are likely to be based in the US, there seems to be no data relating to the current population, but only native Americans. It is true that the majority of the people in the US have roots in other parts of the world, but there must be some data available? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tiggsy (talkcontribs) 13:39, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is no singular data for the US. Studies are broken on racio-ethnic lines. The DQ8 frequency in the US is as follows for Caucasians and is relatively consistent across the country.
DQA1*0303:DQB1*0302 0.93% (Most older testkits will give this as DQA1*0302:DQB1*0302
DQA1*0301:DQB1*0302 9.62%
Total AH8.1 is 10.5% haplotype frequency.
Because this correction in haplotype association has not been published I did not add the correction to the Page, However in my own hands all caucasians with DRB1*0405-*030X are DRB1*0405:DQA1*0303. The other variant DRB1*0401-DQA1*0302-DQB1*0302 I have not observed, nor any DQA1*0302:DQB1*0302. Since Klitz et al. 2003 (Tissue antigens 62:296-307) used a typing kit that could not discriminate *0302 from *0303 I assume this is the reason.
For Native Americans and Latinos of American origin DQ8 is much higher, for example in the southern counties of Texas or San Antonio, the frequency is growing in Houston because of the growing numbers of immigrants from Guatemala.
For African Americans the frequency varies somewhat across the country.PB666 yap 20:11, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The reason DQ8 is not mentioned for immigrant populations is that the frequency tends to vary widely from place to place, and frequency is more dependent on individual ancestry than ancestry of named racial groups. DQ8 frequencies vary widely across Europe, Mexico, and other places of migrations. To keep the page simple and reduce the number of frequencies (i.e. 360 populations typed so far) . . .PB666 yap 20:11, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
