New, related article being developed

We are two students at Mills College enrolled in a Politics of Developing Nations course. As a course requirement we are creating a new Wikipedia article related to developing nations. Our intended article will address the family planning program in Thailand. We were inspired by Thai leader Mechai Viravaidyma’s contributions to raise greater awareness of this program. In the Wikipedia article, we intend to concentrate on how this program has addressed poverty issues. Here are some of the topics we plan to explore:

  • The reason for creating a family planning program within a developing nation
  • What specific social conditions existed that demanded a family planning program
  • An unbiased analysis of this program’s effectiveness
  • Include independent data, reports and analysis to validate claims of success and program purpose
  • How a multifaceted program was so successful in a developing country
  • Where the initiative to develop this program stemmed from
  • Expand and include more recent information
  • How has the program progressed and how has it influenced today’s society in Thailand
  • What (if any) sectors of the program may be expanded
  • Whether there are populations that it has not been successful in reaching
  • Whether this program could be a potential model for other developing nations to mirror

Themes/subtopics within the article:

  • Poverty reduction (its relation to other subtopics)
  • HIV/AIDS reduction
  • Mortality rate
  • Child mortality rate
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Religious support
  • Political/military support
  • Women’s rights/equality issues
  • Education
  • Community building
  • Financial funding
  • International support
  • And others

Disputed template

One of the key citations for this article is a Dead link and, consequently, large sections of content need to be verified. I reviewed the majority of the article and it needs to be reviewed by someone with expertise in the area—I have some knowledge of this subject and I think the article's standard needs to be lifted. I updated two pieces of information, but other areas need to be updated as well.--Soulparadox (talk) 06:30, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
