WPMED Collaboration of the month

Where to start... this is in poor shape. Support proposal to aim for GA. If it's going to make GA, would it need to have the usual headings per the MEDMOS. Is this desirable, might be better to keep a list structure?

Current structure is basically a list, divided according to anatomic region. Alternative option might be to organize things etiologically (e.g. as in tongue disease or salivary gland disease). Yes, I think so. I've started editing oesophageal disease. I think that this page should only provide a very general overview (as there are already subtypes for each disease). I've tried to work in the order: definition -> most common disease (if there is one) -> acute diseases -> chronic diseases -> common symptoms -> brief overview of specific investigations. I've removed hernias and peritoneal disease (edit is here if you want to revert). These would be more appropriately covered on an abdomen topic, in my opinion. other than this, we only have 6 more organs to write about (and I need to add citations to my two). I'm mainly going to be using the GI textbook which I already have (only source currently). Share by drop box available. Other suggestion is Cochrane library: [1] looks like they have a lot of reviews which might be useful. "Feminsation"?

In the subsection "Hepatic" under section "Accessory digestive gland disease", a particular sentence reads, "Chronic liver disease may lead to ...... easy bruising, immunosuppression and feminsation". What is this "feminsation" supposed to mean? Knaveknight (talk) 13:11, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Knaveknight, I'd go ahead and delete it. Its not referenced, theres nothing about it at liver disease, and I suspect its a conflation between the hypogonadism associated with chronic alcoholism and liver disease, which is also associated with alcoholism. BakerStMD 14:39, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
