I have a FNH in the right liver, there's a 7.2 x 11.0 cm lesion, My doctor said that usually when the benign tumor grow to a certain size, then it will stop growing. I'm very worry, I'm only 37 years old. My FNH is already very big, what happen if it keep growing? My doctor said because it's too big & in the right side, the only thing that he can do is monitor it, shouldn't do surgery because it's too much risk & no treatment can stop it grow. Can any doctor give me more option? Angel
- The page says that FHNs have "no malignant potential." That means that FHNs don't turn into cancer. If you are worried about it for other reasons, then ask a second doctor. Hi Angel,
Most doctors because its benign do chose to monitor it, however, there are procedures like embolization and or resection available. There is no guarantee and it may always come back and yes surgery is higher risk than embolization. Embolization has a high success rate, less scarring, faster recovery time and its less invasive to the body. Your doctor or a radiologist may be able to explain this to you. This procedure is used when the size may be alarming to the patient and they want to stunt its growth and basically starve it so it may reduce in size. There is possibility it may grow and that is why you may want to have other doctors help you out so that if you need to endure any type or procedure or surgery, considering your age, youth in always in favor to how much you body can endure. I have FNH and the size is pretty big for how small I am. I am seeing a surgeon and a radiologist for an embolization cosult this week and next week.
I truly know what you are going through and all I can tell you is not to settle with your doctors advice if your not happy. Your the one carrying the darn thing. For some people it causes no pain or problems for others it does. I am doing this because I have abdominal pain and other on going symptoms.
