References and text update

My intention is to update the text with more recent information (e.g. ACVIM consensus statement and I began by trying to figure out what all the citations were by adding more information via the citation templates. I only realized afterwards that I'd inadvertently started a major revision of the citation style without asking for consensus first. Apologies for this - my overall intention is to do some revisions to the text which will hopefully eliminate the large number of citations that are used to support some statements. No objection here to using the citation templates; it helps if you can do what’s in there in the format too in order to be consistent. This article has languished, unloved but critically important, for years. So if you want to give it a tune up, please do! Montanabw(talk) 05:38, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rename article to specify it is about horses?

Could this article be renamed to specify it is for horses? The only mention of camels/dogs/humans is in the lead section, and the rest of the article is about horses. There isn't a Wikipedia page on EIPH in any other species, but they would seem outside of the scope of this article? DferDaisy (talk) 01:33, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

At this point there is no need to change title. The solution here is to add more on other species until it has a broader scope, then, if the individual animals require separate articles (as for colic (horse)) then do a spin-off. Until then, it is unnecessary to disambiguate. This one is sort of like the flip of articles like club foot or navicular bone, where the human articles have a subsection on the condition in animals. Here, the info on horses will probably always dominate the article, but solid subsections on EIPH in other animals could easily and appropriately be added.
