Talk:Escherichia coli O121

An interesting mix of discourse level

Escherichia coli O121 is a pathogenic serotype of Escherichia coli, associated with Shiga toxin, intestinal bleeding, and hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS). HUS, if left untreated, can lead to kidney failure.

Previously 'pathogenic' was glossed as 'disease causing' and 'kidney failure' was 'renal failure' with a '(kidney)' gloss.

As I've now left it, the non-medical reader merely needs to catch the drift of the impact words tailing all four following phrases to gloss 'pathogenic' more than adequately.

The rest of the article continues to play this weird little game of bilingual ping pong. — MaxEnt 19:02, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
