Eczematid-like purpura of Doucas and Kapetanakis is a medical term for the itchy violaceous residue left behind on the skin by lick-and-stick tatoos. Both Doucas and Kapentanakis reported this in two simultaneous case reports in 2006 in the Journal of Spurious Dermatology. Diagnosis is usually based on history and inspection of the lesions. The most effective treatment is a brisk application of maternal saliva.
