World Bank Repayment

Can someone put in something about the recent troubles with the World Bank? Chadlupkes

Purchasing Power Parity

Recently I was looking at the ratios of List of countries by GDP (PPP) / List of countries by GDP (nominal). I think this number should give a rough sense of how much "stuff" (in a standard "basket of goods") you can buy in a given country for a U.S. dollar. At the top of the list are "third world" countries like Myanmar; at the bottom of the list are mostly "rich countries" - Qatar, Norway, Kuwait, the Republic of Congo, Denmark, and Switzerland. The Republic of Congo placement seems surprising, especially since this number comes out almost nine times higher for the adjoining Democratic Republic of the Congo. I'd take this naively to imply that if someone in the Republic of Congo crossed the border, exchanged money, and purchased goods there, that he'd come back with nine times more stuff than he could get at home. Or more likely, that there's something embarrassingly wrong with these statistics. Mike Serfas 02:45, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ITC external link on trade data

Hello everyone, I am working for the International Trade Centre (ITC). I would like to propose the addition of an external link that could lead directly to the specific country’s trade data held by ITC. I would like you to consider this link under the WP:ELYES #3 prescriptions. Moreover, the reliability and the pertinence of this link can be supported by the following facts 1) ITC is part of the United Nations 2) No registration is required 3) Trade data (imports/exports) are regularly updated 4) The link gives direct access to the trade database of the specific country 5) The addition of reliable trade data to the Economy section of the country could provide an appropriate contribution to the information therein contained. Thank you for your attention.Divoc (talk) 07:08, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
