Lead section rewrite - July 2019

To give the lead section some clarity, citations, and notions for additonal sections (e.g., treatment) I propose the following rewrite:

Start of rewrite --------------------------------------------------

Dyssomnia is one of four classifications of sleeping disorders used within the International Classification of Sleep Disorders maintained and published by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dyssomnias are grouped within three general sleep disorder groups: intrinsic, extrinsic, and circadian rhythm.

Patients with a dyssomnia disorder may complain of difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep, intermittent wakefulness during the night, early morning awakening, or combinations of any of these. Transient episodes are usually of little significance. Stress, caffeine, physical discomfort, daytime napping, and early bedtimes are common factors.

Some common dyssomnias include insomnia, narcolepsy, obstructive apnea, hypersomnia, and restless leg syndrome.

As with all sleep disorders, treatment depends on the specific diagnosis along with the patient's medical and psychiatric history.

end of rewrite -----------------------------------

Please discuss and suggest before I move the rewrite into the article. Pkon99 (talk) 18:07, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
