Talk:Depth gauge

Other types

This page covers the depth gauges as applied for scuba diving. But, there are other kinds of depth gauges such as:

  • Gauges used to check the thread depth in tires.
  • Gauges used in machine shops to see if a piece of metal is flat or if, say, you drilled a hole deep enough.

Just a thought. SupremeDalek (talk) 03:51, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quite true, add some content any time you like. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 11:20, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Light based depth gauges in Biology

This section is about biological reaction to light intensity and not really measurement of depth. It is valid encyclopedic content and appears to be adequately sourced, but it is out of scope for this article. I would prefer to split and merge rather than delete, but I don't know where to put it. Realistic suggestions welcome. Cheers · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 09:00, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inclined to agree with the move - it is a measurement of depth (by proxy) but it isn't a depth gauge as defined by the article. What do you think about moving it to Phototaxis? Scleractinian (talk) 11:18, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That does look a possible destination, I will ask on its talk page. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 15:15, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the proposal. fgnievinski (talk) 06:13, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
