Reverted to earlier version

Although another user has changed the earlier version of this article to a "POV" free entry, the classification of the buttercup squash as a vegetable is taxonomically incorrect. I have reverted this edit to an earlier incarnation. Other cucurbita squashes on Wikipedia such as butternut squash and the pumpkin have listed as fruits. For consistency, Cucurbita maxima should be listed the same.

Candy Roaster squash

I was just reading the Candy Roaster squash paragraph -- it needs source citations. The information at sites in google search results seems variable. I think the color and size of this squash are quite variable, so the Candy Roaster paragraph's information about color should be correct. But I question whether the historical information in the paragraph is correct since there is no source cited. But I think the paragraph should not be removed completely. I just wanted to mention here its questionability for future reference. If anyone has time to look further into this matter and find sources for the information, thanks. update: I just removed this sentence: "In fact, the 'Candy Roaster' name was probably a traditional name for the C. maxima species in order to maintain some degree of varietal purity as different varieties can cross-pollinate at distances of up to a mile whereas different species will not cross even when grown side by side." If it was "fact" it would have a source cited, and it would not be only "probably" a traditional name for the stated reason. Please revert if I have done wrong here. (Or preferably, re-word the above sentence and find a citation.) Thanks. Fallendarling (talk) 13:40, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
