The Origin is Arabic
The word comes from Arabic, origin شُقّة chukka (or الشقة al chukka where al = the) means long distance walking (mainly in the desert). mentioned in Holy Quran. Merging Veldskoen into Chukka Boots
Proposing the merger of Veldskoen into Chukka Boots as both articles are reasonably small, especially the former and as Chukkas were a re-naming of Veldskoene then it would make sense for them to be in the same article with this made clear. I would also propose Veldskoen having it own section as "Desert Boots" has to distinguish them from other Chukka Boots with their regional and historical differences. The Veldskoen article is also outside of the regular Wikipedia Fashion Project without its own section on footwear so I assume it sees few page visits and rather than having two pages of what are essentially the same shoe being listed a merger would make the most sense in my opinion. -- Nick CB 01:29 BST 17/05/2015

Eighth Army
