Equating Voivode with Duke
G'day. The translating/equating of voivode with Duke doesn't work in English, IMO. A duke in its usual English context is a senior member of a royal or noble family, and there are no military connotations associated with it. A voivode is a military leader that can be from any background. The two terms just are not equivalent, and the trabslation doesn't help English speakers to understand better.
