Merge

We should merge Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis as they are basically the same things per the literature.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 04:03, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

With no objections in the past 3 years, I have completed this merge. LT910001 (talk) 23:17, 18 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Plan to edit wikipedia page

Hello,

I have not previously edited a wikipedia page, but was planning on doing so for the acute exacerbations of COPD page.

I am a respiratory physician currently doing research in exacerbations of COPD.

One of the things that I plan to add is the "DECAF score" which is risk-stratification score which can be used in patients admitted to hospital with an AECOPD. This has been published in Thorax (a leading respiratory journal) in 2012 (http://thorax.bmj.com/content/early/2012/08/14/thoraxjnl-2012-202103.full) and 2016 (http://thorax.bmj.com/content/71/2/133.abstract). I am one the authors for the second study, so their is a potential conflict of interest. The DECAF score has been recommended for use by the British Thoracic Society in the 2015 UK COPD national audit report (https://www.brit-thoracic.org.uk/audit-and-quality-improvement/national-copd-audit-programme/), so I am confident that my suggestion to include it does not respresent a conflict of interests as it is supported by an independent, and highly respected organisation.

There are other changes that I am happy to make too regarding diagnosis, treatment, etc.

Advice and encouragement is welcome, as this will be my first edit!
