Murt (Persian: مورت), also Romanized as Mūrt; also known as Kāni Mūrt,[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Arkavazi Rural District of the Central District of Chavar County, Ilam province, Iran.[4] The village is populated by Kurds.[5]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 1,082 in 204 households, when it was in the former Chavar District of Ilam County.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 1,200 people in 271 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,088 people in 284 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]

In November 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Chavar County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Chavar as its capital and only city.[8]
