Liam Joseph Conlon[1] is a British politician. A member of the Labour Party, Conlon has served as the Member of Parliament for Beckenham and Penge since July 2024.[2] He is also chairperson of the Labour Party Irish Society.[3]

Career

Conlon was selected by party members in Beckenham and Penge constituency to be their candidate, and was elected with a majority of 12,905 over the Conservative candidate. He is the first Labour MP to cover the town of Beckenham.

Conlon was appointed as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Department for Transport following his election.

Personal life

Conlon is the son of former senior civil servant Sue Gray who currently serves as Downing Street Chief of Staff under Sir Keir Starmer.[4] He had a hip repalcement at the age of 17 due to an accident at the age of 13 where he fractured his hip, he was initially left unable to walk for years. As a result of this he is one of the few disabled MPs and drives an adapted car.[5]
