Who's affected and unaffected in the diagram?

Is the red child affected? Or does he have a 1 in 4 chance of being affected? Or is he affected but has a 1 in 4 chance of being OK (asymptomatic)?

The wording could be clearer.

Red is usually associated with danger and blue with safety. If the kid on the right is the lucky one with only a 1 in 4 chance of being affected (but I don't know if that's what's meant by the diagram), then he probably shouldn't be in red. Gronky (talk) 19:12, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why distinguish between “Father” and “Mother”?

This picture takes an effort to distinguish between “Father” and “Mother” by using different symbols and captions. As pointed out by Kashi Siddique on Talk:Dominance (genetics), that can be misleading to understand “some sort of sex linkage”. Wouldn't it be better to remain gender neutral here? ◅ Sebastian 10:10, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
