The Whiteley Clinic is a privately owned clinic specializing in endovenous surgery for the treatment of varicose veins and related venous conditions.[1][2]

History

Originally established as the Mark Whiteley Clinic, the institution underwent a name change to The Whiteley Clinic in March 2002.[3][4] The clinic was founded by Professor Mark Whiteley following his pioneering endovenous varicose vein operation in March 1999.[3][5][6][7][8]

In collaboration with Mr. Holdstock, he introduced the TRansLuminal Occlusion of Perforators (TRLOP) technique in 2001.[9][1][6] This minimally invasive procedure, performed under local anesthesia, targets perforator veins to address varicose vein formation.

Expansion and services

The Whiteley Clinic has five branches around the UK, including London, Bristol, Bournemouth, Henley-on-Thames, and Guildford.[10] Notably, the London clinic offers treatment for pelvic congestion syndrome under local anesthesia.[11][12][6]

The Whiteley Clinic provides services including:[13]

  • Endovenous Surgery for Varicose Veins
  • Treatment for Venous Leg Ulcers
  • Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Treatment
  • Aesthetic Phlebology

In 2019, the clinic introduced advanced treatment options such as High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and Endovenous Microwave Ablation (EMWA) for varicose veins.[14][15][1][16]

Awards

The Whiteley Clinic has received awards including:

  • Global Excellence Awards: Best for Varicose Veins Treatments (2020).
  • GHP Awards: Best for Varicose Veins Treatments (2021, 2022, 2023).[17][18]
  • GHP Awards 2023: Most Innovative Vein Clinic, Best Varicose Veins Treatment Clinic.[19][20]
