Andrew Maule Dewar Durie is Chief of the Name and Arms of Durie a Lowland family whose surname dates back to the 1260s.[1] Recognised by the Lord Lyon King of Arms in 1999 as the Chief and 15th representer of the Duries of Durie of Craigluscar, Undifferenced Arms matriculated and placed in the Lyon Register 7 May 2010 Volume 91 page 046.[2]

Born on 13 November 1939 of Lt-Col Raymond Varley Dewar Durie of Durie and Frances St. John Maule. Andrew Dewar Durie was educated at Wellington College and joined in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders as a Regular Soldier, serving from 1958 to 1968 in Scotland, Wales and BAOR, seeing active service in South-East Asia and Aden and retiring as a Captain (rank from 1958).[3]

Director of White Horse Distillers between 1973 and 1983. Director of Long John Institute between 1983 and 1988. Director of James Burrough Ltd (1988-1991). Managing director of Allied Distillers Ltd (1991-1997) and Chairman (1997-1999). Member of the Incorporation of Maltmen;[citation needed] President of the Edinburgh Royal Warrant Holders Association in 1999;[citation needed] member of the Glasgow Incorporation of Maltmen;[citation needed] Liveryman of Worshipful Company of Distillers;[citation needed] Board of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (2000-2010);[citation needed] Executive Committee of the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs until July 2010;[citation needed] Executive Committee of Erskine Homes for ex-servicemen and women in Scotland.

Chairman of the Sea Fish Industry Authority (2003 to 2008); Chairman of CBI Scotland (1997-1999).[citation needed]

Appointed Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Dunbartonshire in 1996 and Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 2000.[citation needed]

He married Marguerite Jamila Kottulinsky, daughter of Graf Kunata Johann Ignaz Joseph Kottulinsky and Princess Marguerite Johanna Gabrielle Michaele Daniela de Rohan, on 25 August 1972. They have one daughter and two sons.

Arms: Azure, a chevron Argent between three crescents Or. Crest: a crescent Or. Motto: CONFIDO. Supporters: two savages Proper wreathed about the loins with laurel also Proper. The Arms are the same as those of Abbot George Durie in the 16th Century and Captain George Durie, granted in 1672[citation needed]
