This category contains articles and redirects for virus taxa that are not formally recognized by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV). As of November 2020^[update], the current taxonomy release is 2019.v1. Any virus taxa not listed there should be included in this category. ICTV does not consider ranks below species, so any strains, isolates, serotypes, member viruses, and so forth should instead be placed in Category:Infraspecific virus taxa ( 83 ). ICTV does handle taxonomy for viroids and other noncellular life, so they should be included here as well as applicable.
