Qualifications for the commission?

Project curvepoint nominated themselves (diff), but their nomination was removed by @Xaosflux (diff) with the comment does not meet electom com eligibility requirements from WP:ACERULES. That led me to try and figure out exactly what the eligibility requirements are, which got unexpectedly interesting. As far as I can tell, the requirements are Open to anyone who is over 18, meets Foundation's Access to nonpublic personal data policy, and otherwise be eligible to vote.. The "otherwise eligible to vote" comes from WP:ACE2023#Election timeline:

An editor is eligible to vote who:
(i) has registered an account before 00:00, 1 October 2023
(ii) has made at least 150 mainspace edits before 00:00, 1 November 2023
(iii) has made at least 10 live edits (in any namespace) in the one year prior to 00:00, 1 November 2023 and,
(iv) is not blocked from the English Wikipedia at the time of their vote.

the problem being (ii) and (iii) which have a 1 November 2023 deadline. That's fine for ACE, but make no sense for the commission elections, which will be over by then. Maybe this is something last year's commission (@AmandaNP, @Mz7, @Cyberpower678) needs to clarify? You guys thought you could go home already? And obviously, fixed for ACE2024. Speaking for me alone, not on behalf of last year's commission, the November 1 2023 deadline would be superseded by the nomination deadline for electcom since you can't really nominate yourself afterwards. As such should this user manage to make 150 mainspace edits before tomorrow, they would be eligible to put their name in again. —CYBERPOWER (Around) 14:32, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

I'll add that the cutoff, IMO, is there to begin with to ensure that sufficient time exists to produce, and vet, the SecurePoll voter eligibility lists since those must be generated and then fed into SecurePoll, as well as the MassMessage lists, without any last minute eligibilities popping up in the process. Like Xaosflux mentions, probably the effect of WLN (although its weird that there have been two in short order; if it was purely the WLN I would have expected them to be appear earlier). I also canvassed AN and VPM two days ago, but I would have expected those to have fallen away by now. This might be worth bringing up at ACERFC2024, but TBH I suspect that if we need to split hairs about whether or not a candidate has made 150 mainspace edits within any time frame their chances of actually getting elected aren't great. -- Asartea ^{Talk | Contribs} 14:55, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

• Cyberpower678's interpretation seems reasonable to me. As long as you have 150 mainspace edits and also 10 live edits by the nomination cutoff time of 23:59, 08 October 2023 (UTC), then under the current rules you may nominate yourself for the Electoral Commission. Effectively, you may simply make edits to satisfy the criteria and then nominate yourself. Mz7 (talk) 19:00, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

   Done: I made an attempt at this [1]. I included the verbiage "in the one year prior to 00:00, 1 November 2023" for the 10 live edits requirement because I suppose that cutoff still matters for that criterion, but I omitted it for the 150 mainspace edits requirement.
