CSD noms

Here are a sampling of articles from the last twenty articles that IE nomed for CSD that were deleted. IE doesn't nom a lot, but when dealing with CSD, you need to get it right more often than not. I've only included those that were actually deleted as others can be researched by non-admins:

1) love is not a feeling it is actaly a magic pie made from the pubes of cupid.the fact is all love is fake but if you find this magic pie everyone will love u no matter how ugly you are. a few men have found this but they have all died, the first man to ever find it was jesus this is the real reason he was crucified. kurnal sanders was the second this is the secret 11 herbs and spices, crushed peices of remakes of the pie. the latest man to fnd it was actually a woman named Kristi Smith the gratest man in her town fell in love with her his name was mykel , but he was a axe murderer so she died a terrible death

the pies last loction was in brisbane australia.it was never seen again since kristi

NOTE: this was properly deleted G3, but G1 explicitly excludes vandalism and poorly written material

2)“Portugasm” is an age-old Portuguese tradition that involves reaching an elevated state of pleasure and satisfaction.

There are a number of time-honoured practices involved in achieving the heightened sensation of Portugasm, and these secrets have been passed down over the years from generation to generation.

Each year, Portugasm devotees from around the world make their journey to the Portugasm Enlightenment & Rejuvenation Institute - a special place of well-being renowned as the "mecca" of Portugasm - in their search for inner balance and deep satisfaction.

NOTE: this was longer, but again this does not qualify as G1 as it is not patent nonsense as defined by WP:nonsense. G1 explicity excludes hoaxes and vandlism. This was deleted (improperly as A7), I could have gone along with G3 vandalism, but not A7.

NOTE2: Interesting side note, Vianello who is also running for admin had previously nom'ed the same article for deletion as G3 and it was deleted as such before being recreated.

3) Mate joue a World of Warcraft et il travail chez Best buy !!! et il faut que je rajoute plein de texte pour faire plaisir a wikipedia alors c'est sa qui est sa mate ta un wikipedia

NOTE: Was deleted per A7, but probably should have been deleted as G3. Foregin language texts are not eligible per G1 and if he did translate, should have noted that elsewhere... online translators are poor and babelfish's translation is hard to read.

4) asa

NOTE nomed G1, properly deleted A3, g2 or A1 would also be acceptable.

5) a gfdg

NOTE properly deleted G2, A3/A1 would have been acecptable.

6) To take advantage of Qmail's new Public Domain license, qmail-distribution was setup to host new distributions of Qmail. Developers can combine patches into one easy to download distribution.

NOTE was nomed A7, but this is more of a adver/spam---which is how it was originally deleted.

NOTE was nomed G11 (blatant advertising), even using babelfish I can't call this blatant advertising, hard to read yes, but not advertising.

9) Envestnet Asset Management is the largest independent investment platform for fee-based advisors. ... (For 95% of the text goto http://www.businesslogic.com/?cat=3 and see about Envestnet section at the bottom.)

NOTE: was nomed A7, but makes several claims to significance/importance---"largest independent investment platform for fee based advisors... comprehensive reporting capabilities to investment advisory firms in USA and other countries" and also mentioned 70 Billion in assets. Was deleted as G11, probably should have been deleted as G10, but A7 is clearly wrong.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 19:23, 16 April 2009 (UTC) NOTE: I recognize that some of the above, you could say he was OK on, but for the most part, there were better options, and this a disturbing pattern for such a small sample.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 21:26, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ba Spartacus, I'm confused on #s 4 and 5. The deletion policy for patent nonsense explicitly includes random strings of characters, therefore G1 would be appropriate for those. Were these the cases he was okay on, or am I missing something? Wronkiew (talk) 07:16, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to ask the same thing; surely "asa" and "a gfdg" count as incoherent text or gibberish?! I'm sure they could also be classified as vandalism, but it is gibberish...Cheers. I'mperator 12:51, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I was also thinking that. It's "incoherent text or gibberish" (G1), it offers "no context" (A1), and it was probably created as a test (G2); or if there was clear malicious intent (for instance a flood of these pages) it would be vandalism (G3). If anything, the suggestion of A3 is wrong, in that it does have content - a small amount of nonsensical content. But any of those 5 criteria would be perfectly reasonable, in my view. If you're digging for bad G1s (and it seems there have been some) those two aren't great examples. ~ mazca t|c 13:06, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This is one of those all-too-common scenarios when G1, G2, and G3 overlap. –Juliancolton | Talk 14:18, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They overlap, but in this case the best options (IMO) are G2 test page or A1/A3 no content/context. The reason why I would argue that G1/G3 would be the worst potentials is because those two are more bity. Tagging an article G1/G3 is kind of like reverting a good faith edit, the outcome may be the same, but the underlying message is more hostile/negative. Also, G1 is better used when there is more incoherent text. Perhaps there is something meaningful in there, we just don't know. With just three or four letters you don't know if it is supposed to be an acronym. The assumption of good faith makes tagging these G1, IMO, the worst possible option.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 15:01, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Right, but it took you more than 100 words to tell us why, which is why they weren't great examples of bad G1s. ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 15:25, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok: Better options existed and the G1 is bity. --- 87 words.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 15:27, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It sounds like you are arguing against the G1 tag itself(rather than just his use of it). It looks like in these cases, the articles did meet the definition of nonsense.WackoJackO 16:00, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
G1 is absolutely necessary. The problem is that too many admins/users cite G1 as the catch all. It is, IMO, the most abused and overused category for CSD out there. It and G3 should be used only if other criteria don't fit---again, it is like using rollback to revert a good faith edit. G1/G3 assumes either bad faith (vandalism) or incompetence (can't communicate), other options avoid that.---I'm Spartacus! NO! I'm Spartacus! 16:34, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I see your point on #4. "asa" could possibly contain useful information without enough context to say what it is. However, I disagree on #5. "a gfdg" is someone banging on their keyboard, and I doubt they were put out when Imperator called a spade a spade. Wronkiew (talk) 16:19, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
