Thank you for improving articles in January! I remember Ewa Podleś on the Main page, and had - believe it or not - two musical DYK today. Shalom chaverim. On vacation, with something for your sweet tooth --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:13, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia too, especially to the DYK section - I always seem to see your articles there :) I have had less time to edit due to my midterms, but I am still committed to improving Wikipedia, of course. After all, there's tons of notable topics waiting to be covered and redlinks to turn blue. Prodraxis (talk) 23:27, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

How can I add a new topic in Wikipedia?

Can I skip the practice of editing? I want to write about vitaltransformation.org and Rabbi Eliyahu Jian who teaches Kabbalah. Please advise. BenElchonen (talk) 16:09, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

Hi @BenElchonen, welcome to Wikipedia! Newer users cannot directly create new articles before becoming autoconfirmed after 4 days and 10 edits since registration. However, you may start a page in the Draft namespace (add “Draft:” before the title of your chosen article) and submit it through the Articles for Creation process. If you have any other questions about editing, please feel free to ask anytime. Prodraxis (talk) 18:31, 29 January 2024 (UTC)

Question from Arsalan Qadeer (14:40, 30 January 2024)

Hi I have created an article and it is deleted by someone now. Is there a way to get it back?? I would like to make changes to it --Arsalan Qadeer (talk) 14:40, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello @Arsalan Qadeer, I do not know how to restore deleted articles as I am not an admin. It appears that your article was deleted due to containing promotional content under Criterion G11 of our speedy deletion criteria. It also appears that you have a conflict of interest with the article from what I can see - please see this page for directions on how to disclose one and how to edit subjects that you may have a conflict of interest in. In addition, if you are being paid for any of your edits, please disclose it using directions on this page - undisclosed paid editing is against the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use and engaging in it can result in blocks. Regards, Prodraxis (talk) 16:24, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Pohang Space Walk

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Pohang Space Walk you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Toobigtokale -- Toobigtokale (talk) 11:21, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi Prodraxis, I was trying to find sourcing for this article, and nothing came up. it's been orphaned and unreferenced for a while, has not interlanguage articles, and ko:wikt:줄 doesn't seem to have any relevant content. I don't speak Korean and am not knowledgeable about this topic area. Do you have any thoughts about what may be going on here? Eddie891 Talk Work 14:13, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

@Eddie891: Hmmm... interesting. I will look for sources for the next couple of days and let you know if I find anything. Prodraxis (talk) 16:10, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
I've took a quick scan through Naver and could not find anything at all either. Looks like some sort of WP:HOAX to me. I will shortly start an AfD. Prodraxis (talk) 22:09, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

DYK for Pohang Space Walk

On 8 February 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Pohang Space Walk, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the steps of Pohang Space Walk (pictured) represent an ascent to an unreachable utopia? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Pohang Space Walk. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Pohang Space Walk), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Question from Random Law Nerd (17:07, 11 February 2024)

Hey Im having trouble publishing my English translation of a Czech wiki article. Automatic edit filters have identified problematic content in your translation. Filter hit: Content Translation Edits --Random Law Nerd (talk) 17:07, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

@Random Law Nerd: Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! I think that this is primarily because you are not an extended confirmed user yet. You must be extended confirmed to publish pages using the translation tool. Prodraxis (talk) 17:12, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Apologies

I realize that my comments to you here were a bit curt and probably stepped over the line into assuming bad faith on your part. I'd like to extend my apologies to you for that. I understand where your concerns were coming from, even if I didn't agree with them, and it wasn't my intention to imply bad faith on your part. MaterialsPsych (talk) 10:39, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

No problem, apology accepted. We all make mistakes sometimes. Prodraxis (talk) 12:44, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

@Ricco Baroni: Sorry, but I do not review new pages upon request. Please wait patiently - one of our volunteer new pages patrollers will get to it soon when they find it in the queue. Regards, Prodraxis (talk) 12:43, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Question from Pancakesfortwo on Glen Powell (19:36, 16 February 2024)

Hello! How do I change someones photo on wikipedia? I mean current is okay but it is old like from 2014 or 2016. --Pancakesfortwo (talk) 19:36, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello there! Please see this page to learn how to format files. Furthermore, you can change the photo in a Infobox by adding the photo's title to the |image= parameter. If you want an updated image, you may want want to upload a new, free, public domain photo on Wikimedia Commons (make sure to check copyright laws before uploading one) or find a more recent photo already on Commons and insert that in an article. Regards, Prodraxis (talk) 20:27, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
Alright sir! Waiting for this! Thank you for a quick reply! @Prodraxis Ricco Baroni (talk) 22:17, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
@Ricco Baroni: In the future, can you just call me Prodraxis instead of "Sir"? I prefer to skip the formalities, and I'm not very old myself either. Prodraxis (talk) 22:25, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
Okay Prodraxis! @Prodraxis Ricco Baroni (talk) 22:27, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

This weeks Editor of the Week

As you may already know, your nominee retired just a couple of weeks ago. I felt it only fair and just that they still receive the award but with an explanation. As you can see, I added some explanations and good wishes to the template. I was tempted to remove the reference to future administratorship in the script but thought better of it since it relays how esteemed he was during his tenure as a Wikipedia Editor. BTW...Thanks for all your nominations over the past years. Buster Seven Talk (UTC) 14:21, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

A bowl of strawberries for you!

I have been noticing your contributions for a few months now, and I really appreciate your work. Thanks for all you do. You deserve these strawberries. Regards. Maliner (talk) 15:06, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
@Maliner: Yum, they were delicious! Thank you Prodraxis (talk) 15:12, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 March newsletter

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. February thanks

Thank you for improving article quality in February. - The image, taken on a cemetery last year after the funeral of a distant but dear family member, commemorates today, with thanks for their achievements, four subjects mentioned on the Main page and Vami_IV, a friend here. Listen to music by Tchaikovsky (an article where one of the four is pictured), sung by today's subject (whose performance on stage I enjoyed two days ago). -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:07, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
