Wikipedia and copyright

Problems with upload of File:WHI-Karte-16-9-EN@2x.png

Thanks for uploading File:WHI-Karte-16-9-EN@2x.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Global Hunger Index table

Hi, by all means update the table at Global Hunger Index, but please can you utilise the existing template for managing table items, rather than a complete rewrite? Bungle (talk • contribs) 16:13, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I rewrote the existing template to match the table in the german version of this article which uses exactly the same template. Furthermore, the updated template matches the table in the actual print version of the global hunger index. Changing or editing the ranking was also easier, so i would like to use the new template instead of this outdated one. Thanks. Ulrich-WHH (talk) 14:11, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What the German wikipedia uses is of absolutely no relevance whatsoever. You have taken away a template which automates some of the calculations and keeps the article trimmer, with a copy-paste from elsewhere, in a different design to what was already being used and against the advice of myself and another editor. As I previously said, you can update the figures without changing the structure of how the enwiki data is displayed. Kindly restore the previous variant and feel free to make any updates within the structure of how this was laid out, otherwise it will be reverted. Thanks. Recent edit reversion

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) Parts of the text you added was published by the Global Hunger Index (example) and as can be seen on the bottom of their website, are licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. That is not a Compatible license on Wikipedia as both NC and ND licenses don't work here. If you want use the information in those text you need to summarise them in your own work.
