Hinder Vandalism

I was dropping by the Hinder(Band) wiki and noticed it's been vandalized. Apparently it's not the first time, judging by the rollback you did to it not too long ago. Thought I'd drop by and let you know so that it can be rolled back again. You might want to put a watch on this page, apparently someone's rather persistent. W1LDC4l2D (talk) 15:16, 15 October 2009 (UTC)W1LDC4l2D[reply]

The editors who reverted the most recent vandalism screwed up. I took care of it, but it's something you could have done yourself. I have 2,400 pages which I actively watch, but Hinder was not one of them. VMS Mosaic (talk) 21:10, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback

MY LORD! Who wrote this article?! I am new here but I had to register just so I could express my HORROR at how poorly this article is written. The "Permanent Color" section is simply NOT ENGLISH. Grammar and spelling mistakes are rampant. I am sorry to say that this article has single-handedly shown me that Wikipedia is NOT the professional, reliable source I thought to be. :( Krivk (talk) 03:46, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I"ll bite. Which article would that be? VMS Mosaic (talk) 04:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh--I thought the article was linked here. Sorry, this Wikipedia revision/"talk" stuff seems like a convoluted mess, but I'm new, as I say. The article is "Hair coloring." Here is one line as an example: "If ammonia kept on your hair for 30 minutes can make your hair fall very high and eventually lead to make you go bald. Ammonia smells bad and cause hair damage and thinning of hair and in some case hair loss and hair turns dull and non shinning Hydrogen Peroxide -- For some hair conditions, hydrogen peroxide is the main culprit."

[1] - as far as I can see, this is the first change that incorporates a spelling variation. I couldn't spot any American spellings in the article, but I'm not that good at proofreading - if you see any, they should probably be changed to comply with WP:ENGVAR. Orpheus (talk) 05:31, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my comments on the article's talk page. The edit you point to has the spelling "flavor" which was the first variant used. The article needs to be restored to American spelling. I did fail to do that because I missed the word "practise" which was added some time since last June. VMS Mosaic (talk) 05:38, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Perishable Milk

The point I was trying to make is that pasteurized milk becomes unfit for consumption, and will cause food poisoning, thus Perishable. Unpasteurized milk, or raw milk, first ferments and sours and will not cause food poisoning.Milk#Spoilage_and_fermented_milk_products This fact is utilized to make products such as sour cream, yogurt, ect. These products can not be made with pasteurized milk unless steps are taken to induce souring without it decomposing. So from that point of view pasteurizing does make milk perishable. But since technically non pasteurized milk will still go bad, maybe it should state that pasteurized milk is much more perishable than unpasteurized milk. Alager (talk) 20:29, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. My only problem was that it sounded like unpasteurized milk wouldn't go bad. Perhaps I should have tried changing it myself, but my wording would likely have been bad enough to require major editing by someone else. VMS Mosaic (talk) 21:33, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, edited as noted aboveAlager (talk) 18:35, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blaine, washington

Why do you keep reverting the lower portion of Blaine, Washington? I was asked by the student body to add that to the text in question. Plus, the portion below that is facts.

Because most of your changes are a direct violation of WP:MOS. If you have information to add, please add it without making changes which go against the Manual Of Style. Why do you keep making the same invalid changes when multiple editors have reverted them? Repeatedly making such disruptive changes is considered vandalism. VMS Mosaic (talk) 08:06, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if you will look at the revisions i did to Blaine, Washington under the school districts to see if it fits WP:MOS.

Random question. Do you like the name Blaine Borderites? Swingline888 (talk) 00:51, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The grammar and spelling need fixed, but it doesn't have any major WP:MOS issues. Some other editor is probably going to have a problem with it because it is mostly a repeat of the mascot section of Blaine School District and is unsourced (but that is true for almost the whole article).
My main concern was all the other small edits throughout the article which you kept undoing. As far as the name, I guess it sounds a little odd. VMS Mosaic (talk) 22:07, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for checking the addition. I didn't understand why it kept getting deleted but now I understand. Swingline888 (talk) 23:41, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting edits to 'cheese'

It would appear that, after reading your talk page, there has been a long and acrimonious history of your changing B.E. spellings to A.E ones, so the article that you've reverted might as well stay that way. Your application of ENGVAR seems sound to me in aiming for consistency within an article (mindful of its target audience), so I have no problem with it. --Fortnum (talk)

The last complaint about my WP:ENGVAR edits was in December 2007. If you check my edit history, you will found plenty of changes of A.E. to B.E.

Amber

Hi, thanks for catching my spellings at amber - I find it hard to juggle between all the different dialects of English, so I'm glad there's someone around to mop up after me! Cheers, Martin (Smith609 – Talk) 23:57, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Dixon (industrial designer)

Hi VMS Mosaic/Archive 2! A biography which you have either created, contributed to, or edited, is completely unreferenced and carries a possible promotional tone (see: COI). All articles, especially biographies, must be neutral and adequately sourced to avoid being deleted. If you can help with these issues, please visit Talk:Tom Dixon (industrial designer), and improve the article. --Kudpung (talk) 23:41, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tagging

Thanks for tagging Karan goswami just now, and I have duly zapped it; but a quick not to say that though it clearly needed to go, {{db-nonsense}} wasn't the right tag. The definition of that one at WP:CSD#G1 is deliberately narrowly drawn, and is intended only for 76%kh*###*&5!@ or "Yaaaaayyyyy LOL!!!!" and the like. The right tag here was {{db-person}} no indication of importance or significance - WP:CSD#A7. If you are going to do New Page Patrolling - which is a good and useful thing to do, and needs all the eyes it can get - it is worth reading WP:CSD carefully. There is good advice from an experienced admin at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:17, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I never do New Page Patrolling. Other than the 2500 pages on my watchlist, I only do Recent changes patrolling. Unfortunately a very great deal of vandalism (a whole lot more than most editors think) is missed by Recent changes patrollers, so there is little enough time for them to research the exact right template to use. I no longer can see the page, but I have no doubt you are correct I used the wrong template. I guess the best thing would be for me to ignore new pages in Recent changes; because of the browser I use, I have to memorize and manually type each and every template I use (a real pain in the a$%). Animal colors

Hi VMS, I don't think that the horse coat color articles, or animal color articles in general, really work for the color infobox and navboxes. Animal colors often represent a range of shades as opposed to a fixed color. So I tossed the infoboxes from the 2 or 3 articles where I saw them. If you disagree with me, then please discuss the matter at "the barn:" the talk page of WIkiProject Equine WP:EQUINE. Thanks. Montanabw(talk) 22:22, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, someone moved the Isabelline color article to Isabelline (animal colour). Now there are two stubs. I really don't see the need at this point to split them out. I know they did for chestnut, but that's a broader color and has far more uses... Anyway, I just put a note on the talk page if you want to head over and discuss it. Montanabw(talk) 07:25, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?

Reverting my reply on my own talk page? Slip o' the mouse? GedUK  10:34, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize. I must have clicked on rollback by mistake (my touchpad is a little too sensitive some times) and then clicked elsewhere before the screen showed the revert. I normally catch these type of slip ups immediately. VMS Mosaic (talk) 21:22, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I guessed it was that, I've misrollbacked on occasion too, don't worry about it! Happy New Year! GedUK  22:01, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear VSM Mosdaic, you did this revert but I was just splitting up the article because it has too many issues, see here. Therefore I just moved some part of the content to Realia (science), because this seemed to be an improvement. Greets, Solejheyen (talk) 11:42, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but an unexplained change of that nature by an anonymous IP looks a lot like vandalism. VMS Mosaic (talk) 21:48, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Busted image

Sorry. Tabarnouche. The .jpg extension wraps on my screen so I didn't notice it was a filename. Sorry, Varlaam (talk) 03:37, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. As you can see a couple messages back, I've made my share of innocent mistakes. VMS Mosaic (talk) 20:22, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey!

Hey my edit on the triangle shirtwaist company fire was a good one 74.101.96.130 (talk) 02:42, 28 January 2010 (UTC) Michael[reply]

It was out of place (didn't belong in the lead) and redundant. VMS Mosaic (talk) 03:18, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I just wanted to say thanks for reverting vandalism on my talk page several times today. -- Ed (Edgar181) 00:29, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm...

VMS Mosaik (talk · contribs) Thought you might find it funny... or not. =) -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:42, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh well, I guess it comes with the territory. I still haven't figured out which vandal I upset, not that I actually care. VMS Mosaic (talk) 08:53, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pjhirst

Hi! I've just fixed your warning on User talk:Pjhirst (diff). I think it's correct and what you wanted to say :) matt (talk) 11:44, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I modified the text of a template, and apparently didn't proof read my change. VMS Mosaic (talk) 23:07, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HSL and HSV

Hi VMS Mosaic – I know you’ve been active in color/color-science related articles around here. I wonder if you’d mind looking through HSL and HSV and sharing any impressions/comments/suggestions on its talk page. There was at some point a request for more input put up at the Color WikiProject, but it didn’t really get much attention. Feel free to get involved in the current talk page arguments or not, as you please. Mainly I think the article would just benefit from some more reader feedback about what in it is helpful/unhelpful, clear/confusing, etc. Cheers, jacobolus (t) 06:24, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added the article to my watch list (I had expected it to already be on it). I'm not by any definition a color expert, but I will follow the discussions and step in if I can offer a helpful comment. Unfortunately, it is a highly technical article, and I'm no longer up to the challenge of reading more than the intro. VMS Mosaic (talk) 08:13, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shades of color

I've made a sandbox version of the template with support for 60 colors, hopefully an admin will make the change shortly. Been meaning to do that for awhile, since several of the templates had hit the 50 limit recently. I've also been playing with a version from shortly before the template ended up getting protected that automated the article links and wolud like some input before I make such a change since it's a little more complicated. PaleAqua (talk) 19:45, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the IP's removal when it was done and for the life of me, I can't figure out how the removed text is discussing the article. Any ideas? --NeilN talk to me 01:29, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was his first edit which caught my eye which does discuss the article. The IP appeared to be deleting random sections while leaving incomplete parts behind. I don't have a problem with unrelated comments being removed if they are removed completely. VMS Mosaic (talk) 01:35, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I see. Thanks for pointing that out. --NeilN talk to me 01:38, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
