Question from PIMAGESTUDIO (08:34, 1 February 2024)

why peaple meet with others? --PIMAGESTUDIO (talk) 08:34, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @PIMAGESTUDIO; welcome to Wikipedia. I don't understand your question — could you please elaborate a bit on what you're trying to ask? Tol (talk | contribs) @ 02:27, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

TolBot task request

For your page moving task 13D, I have a list of pages at User:Dicklyon/NFL Draft to downcase that need to have Draft changed to lowercase draft, per the consensus at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Capitalization of NFL draft article titles. Since there are still a few editors questioning the validity of the close (see User talk:The Wordsmith#NFL Draft), and since it was not an RM per se, and since it could be considered a "close call" by some, it might be good to get explicit permission to apply the bot to executing on this consensus. Let me know what you think. Dicklyon (talk) 00:10, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. A user just now did 75% of them by hand, so no bot help needed. We can finish up manually. Dicklyon (talk) 00:53, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No worries; @Dicklyon. For reference, though, I would definitely seek explicit BRFA approval for a task like this (for the reasons you noted). Tol (talk | contribs) @ 01:57, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, he used MassMove, a tool I had not heard of. Easy like a bot, but I presume he's manually confirming each one. Dicklyon (talk) 10:53, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

PAge / mass moves are pretty easy, it's the cleanup afterwards that can be painful. I plan to run AWB to work on that issue, but it's going to take extra hands to properly deal with it all and I won't be able to do it all by myself. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:00, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you're on that. I won't have AWB/JWB access any time soon, and I'm busy in Australia through March, but happy to help if you identify areas needing manual work. Dicklyon (talk) 23:24, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Content concern re: Har Mar Superstar Page

It looks like someone has made a number of edits to minimize the sexual assault/misconduct allegations against this public figure. What is the best way to address this? Blkcateyes (talk) 19:28, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Blkcateyes; welcome to Wikipedia (and apologies for my late response). Generally, the first venue for resolving editorial disputes over article content would be that article's talk page; I see you have already contributed to a related discussion there and on the other user's talk page. I would recommend waiting until the SPI concludes. If HDClear is found to be a sockpuppet, then the edits could be reverted to restore the previous consensus; if not, editors would need to come to a consensus on the talk page as to if these changes should be made. I don't think I currently have the time to fully investigate this situation myself, but I hope that this answered your question — please let me know if you have any further questions! Question from SmartHuman1 (22:11, 13 February 2024)

Hello, how do you write an article or edit one, I am not sure how to use anything? --SmartHuman1 (talk) 22:11, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @SmartHuman1; welcome to Wikipedia! The introduction tutorial may be of some help for you to get started editing. If you're interested in writing a new article, you could take a look at the information here. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 14:41, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Profeessor Bill (06:55, 19 February 2024)

I wish to remove false information from the "International Steampunk City" page.It claims that a festival I've been on the planning committee of that has run continuously since 2011 is an event created by ISC in 2022. The founder of ISC was a consultant who quit before our first festival, trademarked our original name (ISC),and thrreasatened to sue if we used the name. We changed the name and started the annuaal Watch City Steampunk Festival. --Profeessor Bill (talk) 06:55, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Profeessor Bill; welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your interest in improving this article. Because you are connected to the article's subject, you have a conflict of interest (COI); thus, there are specific guidelines that you should follow when making edits related to this topic. Most relevantly, you should disclose your COI, and use a specific process to request edits rather than making them directly. When requesting edits, I would recommend taking extra care to ensure that you are following Wikipedia policies by writing in a neutral manner and citing reliable sources that verify the content of your edit. (If something is not verifiable in reliable sources, even if it is true, it cannot be added to Wikipedia.) Please let me know if you have any further questions! Hi there, sorry that I've missed your message, I did not notice the chat window! Thanks so much, I will be sure to reach out, thank you for your time. Best regards --Marijacarter (talk) 12:58, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, @Marijacarter! No worries here — I don't believe that we've had a discussion (please correct me if I'm wrong!). If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 00:57, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Admins without tools feature request

Hey Tol. I noticed this edit where someone placed the admins without tools template, and then TolBot notified everyone of it. In this case, the person being nominated was also on the bot's mailing list. Perhaps it'd be a nice efficiency to have the bot check if nominatedUser === userToDeliverMessageTo, and if equal, skip that person so they don't get double notified / spammed? Just an idea, hope it helps :) –Novem Linguae (talk) 21:03, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Novem Linguae and @Queen of Hearts, thanks for letting me know. This is the second time this has happened (agh), as I had apparently forgot to fix this the first time around. I'll get to patching this shortly. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 00:50, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done (with logic to hopefully take care of situations with more than one notification in a day!). Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:55, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
